Fans suspect that Melissa McCarthy might have just secured a new gig on Saturday Night Live, though there was some disagreement in chatter online about how long that opportunity will last.

The speculation began after President-elect Donald Trump revealed on Thursday, Nov. 7, that he selected Susie Wiles to be his chief of staff when he re-enters the White House. Trump made the announcement one day after media outlets called the 2024 U.S. presidential race in his favor, securing his second term in office just four years after he lost his first bid for re-election.

As Americans began learning more about the 67-year-old woman expected to guide Trump’s new administration, many couldn’t help but notice that Wiles looks a bit like McCarthy, who memorably played Trump’s former White House press secretary, Sean Spicer, on the sketch comedy show back in 2017.

“I’m calling it now, Melissa McCarthy is playing her on SNL,” one person wrote on X, formerly Twitter, as another predicted that the Bridesmaids star is “ABOUT TO BRING THE FUNNY NONSTOP!”

“Melissa McCarthy just scored job security at #SNL for the next 4 years,” an X user wrote as another echoed their belief, writing, “Melissa McCarthy just secured her SNL spot for the next four years—get ready for the laughs.”

Another agreed that the Gilmore Girls alum has “a solid gig at SNL now—she’s about to be the MVP for the next four years!”

Others were quick to point out that Trump had four chiefs of staff during his first term and suggested Wiles might not stick around for the full four years.

“Funny that you think that lady will be there for 4 years,” one X user wrote.

“She'll last maybe 3 weeks,” another said.
