Beverly Ortega Details Sudden Departure From ‘The Bachelor’ and Emergency Surgery
Update 2/11/25: Beverly Ortega opened up about her sudden departure from The Bachelor on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, revealing she had appendicitis and had to go in for emergency surgery.
“I take a nap, I wake up, and my stomach’s hurting,” she said (per E! News). “I’m like, ‘Okay, maybe I just need to go to the bathroom,’ or the food didn’t sit well. I start throwing up. My stomach is continuing to hurt and I’m in excruciating pain. This goes on for 12 hours....They ended up taking me to the hospital. After three hours of being in the ER, the doctor came in and he’s like, ‘You have appendicitis. You’re going to need emergency surgery.’”
Beverly ended up returning home post-surgery and didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to Grant: “I was really sad, really, really bummed out,” she explained. “I didn’t get to say goodbye to him. I didn’t get to tell him what happened. So I hope he didn’t think that, like, I left just because.”
Original story: Beverly Ortega was supposed to go on a one-on-one date with Grant Ellis during Monday night’s episode of The Bachelor but instead ended up suddenly leaving the show. And things were left pretty up in the air about what happened. Like, pretty much the only explanation we got was Parisa Shifteh telling cameras, “Today was supposed to be Beverly’s one-on-one with Grant, but yesterday morning she was very sick, and today we found out that she will not be coming back to the house.”
Meanwhile, Reality Steve explained, “Apparently, Beverly got very sick after the basketball date and was taken to the hospital. She eventually wasn’t able to be medically cleared to return back to the show so she went home this episode.”
Beverly hasn’t spoken out as of this article being published, but she did post this:
We obviously didn’t get to know Beverly very well, but according to her ABC bio, “She comes from a close-knit, loving family, and her parents’ 30-plus-year marriage has been the blueprint for the kind of love she wants for herself. Beverly is ready for a man that will truly love her. She’s looking for a partner who is trustworthy, kind and understanding. When she’s not working, Beverly likes to go shopping or watch her favorite movies like Titanic and The Princess Diaries."
TBD on if she’ll end up rejoining the season later on (or maybe be cast on Bachelor in Paradise?), but stay tuned, I guess!
