We're just one week into American Idol season 23, and Carrie Underwood is already emotional over the latest batch of music hopefuls.

The latest installment of the ABC series premiered on March 9, and the first episode introduced viewers to a country singer from Texas named Breanna Nix. Accompanied by her husband Austin and young son Emerson, she had Carrie and her fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie intrigued by what she would be singing for her American Idol audition. As it turned out, she took a page out of Carrie's songbook as she performed a moving cover of her first-ever single, the 2005 hit song "Jesus, Take the Wheel."

As Carrie watched with Emerson (who was adorably falling asleep as his mom sang) sitting on her lap, Luke noticed her getting emotional watching Breanna sing her song. With tears in her eyes, she explained to Breanna how Emerson's presence had her shaken in the best way possible.

"You OK over there?" Luke asked Carrie in a clip posted on YouTube.

"I'm sorry — he's just adorable and sweet, and I just... it got to me," Carrie responded.

Upon seeing the sweet reason why Carrie teared up on the air, many fans couldn't help but agree that Emerson watching Breanna audition was such a heartfelt moment.

"I’m dying. That little boy being put to sleep by his beautiful momma's voice. This is magical," one person wrote in the comments. "That little boy is worth it all. SO precious. Mamma done good," another agreed. "So incredible to watch Mom sing with all her heart while she sees her baby boy fall asleep in Carrie's arms. This brought tears to my eyes. I hope she goes far," a different follower added.

Even though folks will have to tune in next week to see if Breanna's audition landed her a Golden Ticket to Hollywood Week, it's clear she has a precious incentive for making her dreams come true.

"I am doing this because I want Emerson to know that anything is possible," she said elsewhere in the snippet about her son joining her on this journey. "He is watching his mama go after her dreams. I hope one day he’ll do the same."
