Check out the strange good luck present Sam Smith’s dad sent him ahead of the Oscars

No doubt Sam Smith is nervous ahead of today’s Oscars.

The singer is nominated in the Best Original Song Category for his ballad "Writing's on the Wall" from the latest James Bond film, Spectre but his dad is keeping him down to earth with a silly present.

Smith, 23, posted a picture of the gift his father gave him - an unripe banana with the message "Hope you get lucky at your after-show party."

"Thanks dad for the good luck present," Smith captioned the pic.

The star is up against Lady Gaga and The Weeknd, among others.
