Everything streaming on Netflix, Stan, BINGE and Amazon Prime Video that’s worth your time from April 11-17 2022.

NETFLIX

Hard Cell (12th)

Comedy series starring the amazing Catherine Tate (playing multiple roles as usual) in a prison setting. High chance this will be good for a chuckle or two.

Our Great National Parks (13th)

Gorgeous new series showcasing some of the planet’s best and most spectacular national parks. Hosted by a bloke named Barack Obama. Kinda looks familiar, doesn’t he?

Ol' mate Barack Obama appears to be doing a pretty decent David Attenborough impression in Our Great National Parks. Picture: Netflix

Space Jam: A New Legacy (13th)

And lo, upon the horizon, a new darkness rose. And the people’s mouths were full of lamentation and the living shall envy the dead (the film’s not very good, hey).

Anatomy of a Scandal (15th)

Slick and engaging looking drama about a politician with a dodgy secret and the resulting scandal it causes. Sienna Miller, Rupert Friend and Michelle Dockery star.

Twisted little flick starring Sex Education’s Asa Butterfield about a cursed 1980s video game and the mayhem it unleashes. Horror fans will likely be delighted.

STAN

Scrooged (12th)

A timeless comedy classic and one of the great Christmas movies (starring Bill Murray). Not entirely sure why it’s being dropped in April, mind you.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles (16th)

Another classic 80s movie, starring Steve Martin and John Candy, about a bloke trying to get home in time for Thanksgiving. Odd timing, Stan, but a great flick nonetheless.

I Got Life! (Aurore) (17th)

Critically beloved, heartwarming French movie exploring a mother’s lot in life, looks like a lovely way to spend some time celebrating family. Possibly with wine. And cheese. Lots of cheese.

If you're looking for a film that feels like a big warm hug, you should get I Got Life! (Aurore) into you ASAP. Picture: Stan

BINGE

Mary Queen of Scots (11th)

The critical reception to this one was a little muted, but where else are you going to see Saoirse Ronan, Margot Robbie, David Tennant and Guy Pearce all in the same place?

No Ordinary Sheila (12th)

Great doco about the extraordinary life of New Zealand writer and illustrator Sheila Natusch, who penned many groundbreaking natural history books. Fascinating stuff.

The Great Kiwi Bake Off S3 (12th)

By 2024 all 195 countries will have their own Bake Off variant. Anyway, this is the third season of the New Zealand one and it seems as delightfully whimsical as all the rest.

Hopefully The Great Kiwi Bake Off S3 will feature more creations like this tall drink of yummy from S2's Christmas Celebrity Special. Picture: BINGE

Outer Range (15th)

Josh Brolin stars in this modern western thriller that appears to contain some kind of supernatural twist. Not a lot of word on this one yet, but it looks super intriguing and almost certainly worth a squiz.

When Thanos actor Josh Brolin stars in a new, weird-looking thriller? You'd better snap to it and watch that thing. Picture: Amazon Prime Video

Law & Order: SVU S14-15 (15th)

Can you believe this show is still going? YES. Because it’s excellent and perfect to watch when you just want to merge with the couch and tune out. DUN DUN! Bliss.

Disney+

Baskets S1-4 (13th)

Super weird, yet oddly engaging, show that stars the late Louie Anderson and Zach Galifianakis. Well worth a look for those in the mood for something (very) different.

Devs S1 (13th)

Gorgeously shot, superbly acted and sublimely executed show from Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation). Doesn’t quite stick the landing (a typical flaw of Garland’s work) but well worth taking the trip nonetheless.

The Kardashians (14th)

The shy, retiring Kardashian family, having spent about sixteen seconds out of the spotlight, now lob back into it with a brand spanking new show. Will you be able to resist the allure of this trashy TV smorgasbord?

Just when you thought it was safe to turn on the telly... the Kardashians are back! So, you know, plan accordingly. Picture: Disney+

PICK OF THE WEEK

Roar (13th)

Star-studded anthology show weaves together eight darkly comedic feminist tales. With talent like Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Erivo, Merritt Wever, Alison Brie and Betty Gilpin, this is most likely going to be a cracker.

Nicole Kidman continues her current run of superb dramatic roles with the excellent Roar. Picture: Apple TV+
