People living in Hastings, East Sussex, are being offered free weight-loss courses in January.

Run by Active Hastings on behalf of Hastings Borough Council, they are open to anyone who is over 18 and has a body mass index (BMI) over 30.

Flab-u-less, for women, begins on 8 January, while Lean Into It, a mixed course for men and women, starts on 13 January.

Heidi Tambeh, Active Hastings adult weight management instructor said: "The courses cover everything you need to help you lose weight.

"You will take part in suitable exercise to help build a new lifestyle for yourself. The course covers topics such as emotional eating, how to read food labels and habit breaking."
