Wedding Reception Turned Into 'Nightmare' After Catering Company Serves Cold Food, Drags Trash Through Museum Venue
One Reddit user claimed that the catering company used during a New Orleans wedding led to a dinner disaster
One Reddit user is encouraging people who are planning nuptials to choose the catering company "wisely" after experiencing a "nightmare" wedding.
In a post from the Reddit group r/weddingshaming, a user explained that they were hired to work a wedding that turned disastrous all thanks to the catering company.
According to the post, the bride and groom wanted to incorporate elements of their culture and heritage for the ceremony and reception, which took place at a museum in New Orleans. The couple wanted specific foods that the catering company didn't carry, so they worked with an outside catering company. "This is where the nightmare starts," the original poster said.
Upon arriving (late) to set up at the venue, they forgot several important items (tables, chairs, cutting boards, knives, and several food items). "Lucky we had most everything they were asking for but it took almost two hours away from 3 of our staff (including me) to help settle them in," they said.
This wasn't the only major bump in the road.
When it came time to serve food at the reception, the meals came out "overcooked, cold AND late," the poster said. "Even better they miscounted the plates and about 20 people received the wrong entree," they added.
After cutting the cake, the catering company failed to bring any plastic wrap, leading the poster to run to the store and pick some up. Several guests went home without any cake, and "about a dozen pieces went missing" after wrapping up the cake.

The poster recounted other unusual moments from the reception. "Several of the [staff] members were just walking around eating off of the multiple other [vendors'] food tables," they claimed, adding: "One waitress got straight up drunk and slid down the steps of the main lobby on her butt spilling about 6 plates of uneaten food across the floor."
At the end of the evening, the catering company didn't deposit the trash in the bins designated to transport them to a dumpster. The posted said they dragged "80-100lb, 55 [gallon] trash bag full of food, drink, broken glass, etc through a MUSEUM."
The poster said they wound up taking each bag to the dumpster themselves.
Other Redditors commented on the "nightmare" reception. "I don’t even know what to say but this is crazy and awesome that you helped when you could knowing how important this was for the couple," one person said, commending their work ethic.
"Those missing pieces of cake were stolen by the other company," another person wrote. "I hope the bride and groom recognized your hard work!"
A third user recalled how they had a very small wedding in New Orleans, calling it the "best way to have a wedding." "I couldn’t imagine trying to put together a big wedding there," they added.
