Watch the Star-Studded Trailer for Seth Rogen's New Comedy Series, 'The Studio'

Lights, camera, chaos! Seth Rogen is exploring the studio side of making movies in his new comedy series The Studio.

"Almost everything is inspired, if not directly by something that has happened then by feelings we’ve had or fears that have arisen about things we hope don’t happen,” Rogen told Vanity Fair. "A lot of it was either told to us by other people or things we ourselves have experienced."

The Apple original series follows Matt Remick (Rogen), the new head honcho of an "embattled" studio. "I got into this because, you know, I love movies, but now I have this fear that my job is to ruin them," Rogen's character says in the show.

The aforementioned line is reminiscent of something Rogen and co-creator Evan Goldberg heard about 20 years ago in a meeting with a studio executive.

"It was a moment that had a great impact on us," the pair said in a joint note. "As writers, we often villainize the executives who are at the inflection point between art and commerce but over years and years of interacting, observing, and befriending people with that job, we started to see the state of panic they always exist in - knowing that any move could end their entire career at any moment; that they're constantly forced to make their heroes hate them; that they're always choosing between enabling bold artistic freedom or securing self preservation - and we couldn't help but see it was great material for comedy."

Rogen and Goldberg revealed that they "spoke to almost every person who runs a studio in Hollywood, we listened to their stories, frustrations, greatest fears and proudest moments, and we took our own stories from the last 25 years of working here alongside the people who get to choose which movies get made and which ones don't."

"And the result is this show," they added, dubbing The Studio "some of our most personal work to date. We wanted to make a show that was as funny, stressful, frustrating, uncomfortable and ultimately, as joyous as life in Hollywood can be."

The upcoming comedy — created by Rogen, Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory and Frida Perez — is brimming with star power, featuring Rogen, Schitt's Creek alum Catherine O'Hara, Agatha All Along's Kathryn Hahn and more.

"We shot for the moon and wrote a lot of those names in, and were fortunate enough to get them," The Studio co-creator Evan Goldberg told Vanity Fair. "But obviously some people fell through, couldn’t do it, or wouldn’t do it. Then we had to pivot. So there were times where we had written a script for one person, they turned out to be unable to do it, and we completely rewrote it, which involved redoing every single joke because those jokes only worked for that person."
