Watch Shania Twain channel her inner Kenergy while receiving her official Barbie doll: 'Sublime!'
Consider the musician very impressed with the one-of-a-kind doll.
Shania Twain couldn’t help but feel the Kenergy when being presented with her official Barbie doll for the very first time.
The “That Don’t Impress Me Much” singer posted a hilarious Instagram video of herself quoting Ryan Gosling’s Ken from Greta Gerwig's Barbie when she saw the doll on Thursday. In the clip, Twain examines her Barbie — dressed in her original “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” outfit — with a stoic expression before handing it back.
“Just give me a minute,” she remarks, before turning a nearby corner and promptly shouting, “SUBLIME!” Attempting to keep her cool, Twain then returns and simply replies, “Approved.”
Much like Twain, Gosling’s Ken turns a corner of his Mojo Dojo Casa House in the film and shouts “sublime” after Barbie (Margot Robbie) asks if she can be his “long-term distance, low commitment, casual girlfriend." He then casually circles back and tells her that he’ll “have to think about that.”
Twain is one of eight celebrities from around the globe who was honored by Mattel with their own one-of-a-kind Barbie in celebration of International Women’s Day on Thursday, according to a press release.
The company, which is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year, chose to honor Twain as well as Academy Award winners Viola Davis and Dame Helen Mirren, Grammy winner Kylie Minogue, content creator Maira Gomez, Oscar-nominated director Lila Avilés, model Nicole Fujita, and comedian Enissa Amani because the stars all have a history of using their platform for good.
In a separate Instagram post, Twain was all smiles as she proudly posed with her doll. “Ladies and gentlemen... HER,” she captioned the image. “I am honored to be recognized as a Barbie role model - I have my own one-of-a-kind Barbie doll!! Pinch me!!”
“All I’ve wanted to do my whole life is tell stories of empowerment, independence and self-expression through my songwriting, getting to do that and inspire women and girls along the way is the dream... everything else is a beautiful bonus!” Twain continued. “It means a lot to expand my responsibility as a role model into the Barbie world, thank you @barbie and Mattel for creating this reflection of me. I love her!!”
Now all that's left is for Gosling to complete the circle by channeling Twain when he performs "I'm Just Ken" at the Oscars on Sunday.
