Two of the internet’s favorite personalities have finally met.

At the 12th annual Blossom Ball hosted by the Endometriosis Foundation of America in New York City, Robert Irwin and Doug the Pug happened to cross paths on the red carpet while posing for photographers. The 20-year-old conservationist, whose family also has a pug named Stella, was at the Friday, May 3 event to support his sister, Bindi Irwin, one of this year’s event honorees.

A video of the meeting captured by Parade showed Robert flash a huge smile as he embraced Doug’s owner, Leslie Mosier. Mosier wore an off-the-shoulder green gown and kept Doug’s leash clutched in one hand as she returned Robert’s hug. The son of the late Steve Irwin then crouched down to turn his attention to Mosier’s four-legged companion.

Doug was stylishly dressed for the evening in a tuxedo-styled harness and bright red bowtie. He wagged his tail and leaned in as Robert scratched his back and gushed over the celebrity dog, who shot to fame several years ago through his social media presence.

Robert and Doug later posed for a few photos together, with Robert lying on the red carpet so that his head was level with Doug’s for the snapshots.

Robert, Bindi and their mother, Terri Irwin, also posed for photos together at the event. Robert and Terri attended to support Bindi, 25, who publicly revealed her endometriosis diagnosis in March 2023. For this year’s Blossom Ball, the Endometriosis Foundation of American announced earlier this year that it would be awarding Bindi its Blossom Award.

Welcoming Bindi as the first global Blossom Award honoree for EndoFound is poised to result in the early diagnosis of hundreds of thousands more women and adolescents,” Tamer Seckin, the foundation’s founder, said in a February press release. “Bindi and her family's profound appreciation for life and nature, coupled with their unwavering commitment to its universal importance, are igniting a global endometriosis revolution.”

While speaking with Parade on the red carpet, Robert explained the importance of being present for friends and family who are battling the condition, as his sister has.

“To actually sit, to listen and to be present as much as you possibly can—you just gotta show up,” Robert said. "So many parts of life, really, is just about being there. It’s just about showing up.”

Robert also gushed about how “incredibly strong” his older sister has been as she’s faced her own battle with endometriosis.

“I’m so proud of her, so supportive of Bindi,” he told Parade. “To see what she’s doing as an advocate for so many women who are dealing with endometriosis and who aren’t, who haven’t been diagnosed yet, and shining a light on this issue, finally. She’s a beacon of hope the world needed.”
