Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, traveled to Texas recently—and while they were there, they made a special surprise visit to spend time with the family of Irma Garcia, a teacher and one of the victims in the Uvalde shooting in 2022.

Irma's nephew, John Martinez, shared a video of the royal couple's time in their home, with Meghan, Harry and Irma's large family singing "Happy Birthday" to John's mother. The clip even included a moment when the group jokingly let Meghan sing alone, with everyone laughing before joining in on the second try.

John also shared another post stating, "MEGHAN MARKLE AND PRINCE HARRY CAME TO MY HOUSE !?!?!?! they’re such a beautiful couple and i’m so blessed, so glad they came to check up on the family." He shared photos of himself with the couple and a candid snap during a conversation with Meghan outside.

Many praised the Duke and Duchess' kind efforts while also sharing support for the family. One fan wrote of Meghan and Harry, "Such a consistent couple. I love that they keep in touch with your family and still uplift this community."

"So happy that Harry and Meghan brought joy in your family and made your mum smile so much. Diana's love and charisma and legacy shines so much in them," said another.

"This is so beautiful to see 🥳🥰," wrote a third, as someone else thought similarly, commenting, "Makes me so emotional watching this 🥺."

"It truly meant the world that Harry and Meghan showed up to visit the family," John told Hello! magazine after the Duke and Duchess' visit. "They were the kindest most humble people ever, it was like having family and friends over having an amazing time together they fit right in."

He also noted that the couple checks in on the family often, telling the publication, "They keep in touch every other month, sometimes a little longer, but with their busy lives, them visiting truly felt more special."

While in Texas, Meghan was also part of a panel discussion at the 2024 SXSW Conference and Festival, speaking with others like Katie Couric, Brooke Shields, Nancy Wang Yuen and Errin Haines.
