You Have To Watch The Coldplay Game Of Thrones Musical
Chris Martin and all the stars of Game Of Thrones in their mock-musical.
Chris Martin and Coldplay: you win the internet.
The band has released a hilarious parody video as part of the Red Nose Day celebrations in the U.S that sees them reimagine the world’s most downloaded show as a musical. That’s right: an all-singing, all-dancing Game Of Thrones musical.
Liam Neeson narrates the video: A fly-on-the-wall style mockumentary that goes behind the scenes of the musical production. Sit back, strap yourself in and prepare yourself for the silliest video on Youtube.
There’s Kit Harrington – or Kit Snow, as Martin calls him – bringing some true rock-god swagger (in a very tight tee shirt) to a song called “Wildling”. “You make my heart sing,” Harrington croons, eyes firmly fixed on his onscreen romantic partner Rose Leslie (the redhead Ygritte from beyond the wall), “you pull my bow string. I think I love you.”
There’s Emilia Clarke singing the unlikely hit ‘Rastafarian Targaryen’, there’s Peter Dinklage giving his best big band performance of his character Tyrion’s anthem ‘Still Going Strong’ (choice lyric: “Remember Ned Stark? He was a lot of fun, but he didn’t make it past Season 1.”) and there’s even Alfie Allen and Iwan Rheon – who play GOT antagonists Theon Greyjoy and Ramsay Snow respectively – putting aside their differences through the medium of song.
The best bit? Well, we don’t want to give anything away, but it involves a grand ensemble, Chris Martin on the piano, and the strangely catchy refrain: “Red wedding, red wedding. Lots of stabbing and a bit of beheading.”
In the immortal words of Chris Martin: “Bang, curtains, Tony award.”
