'The Voice' Fans Are Going After Blake Shelton and the Other Coaches for “Unfair” Voting
The Voice is now airing Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC until the season finale on May 19.
West Coast viewers raised voting concerns after the most recent live episode.
Instant Save voters on the West Coast have to vote before seeing the performers due to The Voice's later Pacific Time slot on NBC.
Some viewers took to Twitter and called on host Carson Daly and coaches Blake Shelton, John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas to help resolve the voting dilemma.
Now that the live shows on The Voice have begun, the fates of the remaining contestants are in the hands of America — well, part of America, according to a handful of disgruntled viewers.
Following Tuesday night's showdown where the competition was reduced from 17 artists to nine, Voice viewers took to Twitter to reflect on the episode. While many were ecstatic for the advancing finalists — namely, Todd Tilghman, CammWess, Micah Iverson, Thunderstorm Artis, Toneisha Harris, Zan Fiskum, Megan Danielle, Allegra Miles, and Joanna Serenko — a good chunk of viewers voiced concerns about the show's voting procedure.
Specifically, many say the show isn't really fair to a large portion of the country's audience because NBC doesn't broadcast The Voice on the West Coast until after the results have been revealed (i.e. 8 p.m. PT or 11 p.m. ET). Some fans even called out host Carson Daly and coaches Blake Shelton, John Legend, Nick Jonas, and Kelly Clarkson on Twitter to bring attention to their complaint (even though Carson and the judges have nothing to do with the voting):
@NBCTheVoice it’s really not fair that Because we are on the west coast we don’t get to vote for the insta save wild card not fair at all

I'm glad our girl Joanna made the instant save but it's B.S. that the West Coast was not given an opportunity to vote. The time change is not our fault. Your the Voice Guru so fix it for next season PLEASE!!! 💖— 💫 Sallee Davis 💫 (@sallee106) May 6, 2020

Now to be fair, technically, viewers living on the West Coast could vote for their favorites while The Voice is still airing on the East Coast and in the middle of the country (the West Coast voting window opens at 5 p.m. PT). But then again, the viewers above do raise a good point — when it comes to voting for the Wildcard Instant Save during the broadcast, if West Coast viewers want to participate, they have to blindly vote for their favorites without getting to see the full performances.
Okay wait, so how do I vote for The Voice if I live on the West Coast?
If you're one of The Voice viewers hungry to vote on the West Coast, just know that you can still have a say, even if that means not being able to see what you're voting for.
As noted on The Voice's voting rules page, to participate in the Instant Save voting window from the West Coast, you should monitor The Voice official app for information on when you can vote to save an artist between 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. PT. Remember, the voting window for the Instant Save is only open for five minutes once Carson announces that the polls are open, so you have to act really fast!
To vote for your favorite performances that will take place on the upcoming May 11 and May 18 episodes, West Coast viewers will be able to vote via The Voice app and online from 5 p.m. until 4 a.m. PT the next morning. See below for other time zones' voting windows (for info on Xfinity voting specifically, visit The Voice's voting rule web page):
Puerto Rico (Atlantic Time): Monday, 9 p.m. ET - Tuesday, 8 a.m. AT
Eastern: Monday, 8 p.m. ET - Tuesday, 7 a.m. ET
Central: Monday, 7 p.m. CT - Tuesday, 6 a.m. CT
Mountain: Monday, 6 p.m. MT - Tuesday, 5 a.m. MT
Arizona: Monday, 6 p.m. MT- Tuesday, 5 a.m. MT
Alaska: Monday, 4 p.m. AKT - Tuesday, 3 a.m. AKT
Hawaii: Monday, 3 p.m. HT - Tuesday, 2 a.m. HT
Got all that? While it's still a bummer that West Coasters don't get to vote while watching the program, hopefully this info will get some viewers excited about participating next week.
