What is Bad Monkey about?

Bad Monkey follows Vaughn's character Andrew Yancy, who, according to Apple TV+, "has been bounced from the Miami Police department and is now a health inspector in the Keys. But after stumbling upon a case that begins with a human arm fished up by tourists, he realizes that if he can prove murder, he'll be back in. He just needs to get past a trove of Floridian oddballs and one bad monkey."

The streamer shared a first look at the show in May, teasing on X (formerly Twitter): "A severed arm, a monkey, and Vince Vaughn all walk onto a boat in the Florida Keys…"

What book is Bad Monkey based on?

The 10-episode series is based on Carl Hiaasen's 2013 book Bad Monkey, which is described as "a wickedly funny novel in which the greedy, the corrupt, and the degraders of what’s left of pristine florida—now, of the bahamas as well—get their comeuppance."

"Carl Hiaasen is so good at creating a vibe," the show's EPs said in a joint note, adding that the author "has a sharp eye for what makes Florida weird, funny and beautiful, but most importantly, Carl's a friend, so I hope we didn't mess it up."
