Victoria Beckham is sharing her positive experience of filming the Netflix documentary series Beckham, which was released last year.
The designer, 49, said it was “quite liberating” in a new interview with the Financial Times as she discussed appearing with her husband David Beckham in the series, which saw the couple speak candidly about their relationship and family life.
“It was quite liberating,” Victoria told the FT. “I was very mindful that usually, when I did my filming, I would be controlling. But this was very much about David, and so I took the approach of, ‘I’m just going to be very easy‑going here.’ ”
“People come up and they’re like, ‘We love the documentary,’ ” the former Spice Girl said. “Let me tell you … They used to be scared to approach.”
Beckham was released on Netflix in October 2023. The four-part series follows the biographical story of David, 48, detailing the former soccer star’s career and relationship with Victoria, along with the challenges they faced as a couple.
Shortly after the docuseries aired, David spoke about it during his David Beckham Fragrances Launch Party at New York City restaurant, Torrisi on Oct. 11.
"It wasn't easy and it was an emotional rollercoaster over the last two and a half years but I think we’ve produced something that my team can be very proud of," he told guests at the time.
The former soccer player also said that was "a huge honor" for him to work with Beckham director Fisher Stevens and Netflix.
Elsewhere in her Friday FT interview, Victoria admitted she “never enjoyed watching football,” however has since found a new love for the sport after attending Inter Miami FC games in support of her husband, who co-owns the team.
“I never felt necessarily wanted [at the matches]. I’m not saying this as in, poor me, but it was never the fun that it is now. Now, when we’re in Miami, I feel wanted,” Victoria told the FT. “I’m friends with the families of the players.” The designer shared she felt even more love when she watched the team play in Nashville.

“All of a sudden, I found myself on the pitch. The club wanted pictures of the family and the trophy. And that was the first time a club had ever entertained the family as well,” Victoria recalled. “Since Messi turned up, the energy has gone to a whole other level. It’s a whole other experience. It’s fun.”
The designer added that she is “so proud” of her husband as she praised David in his latest career move as co-owner of a soccer team.

“It’s unbelievable. I feel so proud of what he’s done,” Victoria said. “When he went to LA all those years ago, people were ridiculing him. But he went knowing that this was ultimately what he wanted to build; to really make a difference with Major League Soccer.”
“And so to have been part of that journey and look at what he’s achieved… It’s bloody amazing. He actually makes things happen,” she told the FT.
