I’ve Been Making the Viral Taco Ring for So Many Years That I Have 3 Favorite Versions of the Recipe

If you’ve been scrolling through social media lately, chances are you’ve seen the viral taco ring—a crescent roll creation that has foodies everywhere buzzing. My kids love it, and I’m thrilled to say this isn’t a new discovery in our house. I’ve been making the taco ring for years, along with a few other variations, and let me tell you: it’s a game-changer for easy, affordable and versatile dinners.

Content creator Adrianna Adarme shared her version on Instagram (@acozykitchen) and it's similar to mine, but I love this recipe because of how versatile it is.

The Classic Taco Ring

Let’s start with the original: the taco ring. Imagine crescent rolls arranged in a sunburst pattern, topped with seasoned ground beef mixture, then wrapped up and baked to golden perfection. It’s basically a giant pull-apart taco.

To make it, you cook ground beef with taco seasoning, then spoon the mixture onto crescent roll triangles arranged in a circle and sprinkle with cheese (Adrianna mixes her cheese in with the cooked ground beef). Fold the dough over the meat, bake and serve with your favorite toppings, like shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream and salsa.

This dish is a hit for so many reasons. It’s easy to make, looks impressive on the table and is endlessly customizable. You can swap ground beef for turkey or chicken, add any type of cheese you like or mix in some black beans or corn for extra flavor and texture.

The BBQ Beef Ring

Next up: the BBQ beef ring, my smoky-sweet twist on the classic. This one swaps taco seasoning for barbecue sauce and ground beef for shredded roast beef or pulled pork (but you can use ground beef with this, too). You arrange your crescent rolls in the same sunburst pattern, fill them with a mix of meat, BBQ sauce and shredded cheddar cheese, then fold and bake.

What makes this version so special is its bold, tangy flavor. The BBQ sauce caramelizes slightly in the oven, and the cheese melts into gooey, smoky goodness. It’s perfect for when you’re craving comfort food!

Serve it with a side of coleslaw or baked beans for a full Southern-inspired feast. My kids love to drizzle extra barbecue sauce on top, and I can’t blame them—it’s irresistible.

The Cheeseburger Ring

Finally, there’s the cheeseburger ring, a fun, diner-style take on the meal. This version features ground beef cooked with onions for that classic cheeseburger flavor. You layer it with shredded cheddar before wrapping it up in the crescent dough. For sesame seed bun vibes, you can brush the crescent rolls with a beaten egg and sprinkle some sesame seeds on top before baking.

When it’s baked, the cheeseburger ring is juicy and cheesy. I serve it with lettuce, tomato and pickles on the side, as well as some condiments, like ketchup and mustard, for the kids to choose how they want to make their cheeseburger.

One I Want to Try: The Breakfast Ring

I have never tried this one, but I think I should! I recently ran across an idea for a breakfast ring and it looks amazing!

To make one, you will need the crescent rolls, breakfast meats (sausage, diced ham or cooked bacon), scrambled eggs and cheese. Make this the same way you would the above rings and serve it with fruit or vegetables, if you like.

It's a fast and easy way to make a delicious, filling breakfast and I can't wait to give it a try!

Why the Crescent Roll Ring Trend Works

What makes these crescent roll rings so popular is their versatility. Crescent rolls are a blank canvas, ready to hold whatever you and the folks you're feeding like best. You can experiment with different meats, cheeses and sauces to suit your tastes or work with what’s in your fridge. Plus, they’re budget-friendly, quick to prepare and perfect for feeding a crowd—like my family of eight!
