Vanessa Redgrave shared a rare public message on social media for the holidays.
On Tuesday, Dec. 24, Redgrave's daughter Joely Richardson uploaded a video of her mother, 87, on Instagram, in which the actress wished families who are suffering from war across the world well over the holiday season.
"I'm so grateful for this opportunity to send all my love to all the mothers and children and babies who are suffering from war in so many countries of this world," Redgrave said in the video.
The actress blew a kiss to the camera as she finished her message: "I send my love — it can't do anything for you. I wish it could. Bless you. Thank you for your love, and I send you every bit I've got, except for the bit I save for my family."
Richardson, 59, wrote in a caption to the video, "I asked my Ma if she’d like to send a message for this time of year…. #love #everyonesfamily #everylifecounts."
Richardson also wrote "Love to all people," in a comment on the video, and she exchanged holiday greetings with other stars like Melanie Griffith in the comment section.
"Happy Christmas to you and your Mama Joely," Griffith, 67, wrote.
Redgrave earned an Academy Award, Tony Award and Olivier Award over the course of her lifetime. The actress is also well-known for her political activism and campaigning against war, including her 2017 directorial debut Sea Sorrow, a documentary that examines the migrant crisis throughout Europe.
