Over the weekend, fans of Valerie Bertinelli quickly rallied around the celebrity chef as she shared she suffered a severe anxiety attack.

In a video uploaded to Instagram on November 17, Bertinelli can be heard saying "I'm doing my best. The after effects of an anxiety attack f**king suck" as she tries to keep her hand from trembling.

In the Instagram caption, the 64-year-old actress shared the candid details of what exactly happened during her attack. According to Bertinelli, during the anxiety attack she couldn't stop shaking, was crying uncontrollably, and felt like her heart was beating out of her chest.

Although the attack lasted several hours, she was able to use meditation and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help get the anxiety attack under control.

"I almost disassociate and am focused solely on calming down and finding any road to a more relaxed and peaceful body. Because I know it’s just my brain overthinking and catastrophizing but my body goes into overdrive and I have no control over it," Bertinelli wrote. "Hours later, as I’m doing my best to meditate and EMDR my way out of this, this is the after effect that I can’t quite seem to calm all the way yet."

Bertinelli received lots of words of encouragement from fans and even celebrities in the comments to her post. Among the celebs who showed their support was fellow TV personality Rosie O'Donnell.

"Totally relate - call me anytime," O'Donnell wrote.

Hundreds of Bertinelli's followers were also eager to let her know that she's not alone in her struggle with anxiety attacks.

"You are not alone, Val. I have the same thing and def can say I know how it feels. Sometimes it takes me quite awhile to get over one," one person commented.

"Thank you for sharing raw vulnerability ❤️. They are debilitating. It can happen even during the happiest moments," another user added.
