Loving sons help mom with ALS dance at their brother's wedding: 'My good cry for the day'

A wedding planner captured the emotional moment a groom and his brothers helped their mom dance, and the footage is causing millions to “ugly cry” around the world.

Tampa-based wedding planner Roots to Stems almost immediately went viral when they uploaded the heartwarming video, gaining over 3.5 million views, 166,000 likes, and thousands of comments.

Now, much like the father of the bride who stopped in the middle of the aisle to put family drama aside, this mother-son dance is reminding people what weddings are really all about.

Groom Zak Poirier took to Instagram to explain his family’s touching story in the caption of his own video.

“My Mom was diagnosed with ALS shortly before I graduated law school,” Zak wrote.

“Since that time, I’ve watched her bravely fight her diagnosis and challenge the odds against her. Despite not being able to stand on her own, my mom and I shared a dance at my wedding. She inspires me everyday to be humble, kind and selfless.”

He ended the emotional post by writing, “Love you Mom ❤️.”

Kathy — who writes about living with ALS on her blog, Grit & Grace in the Face of ALS — said of the dance, “It was a pretty tearful moment for me, but with the help of my sons we were able to pull it off!”
