The unexpected star replacing Carrie Bickmore on radio

After heading off on maternity leave to prepare for her third child, Carrie Bickmore left some pretty big shoes to fill on her radio gig, The Carrie and Tommy Show.

But it seems the Hit Network has gone all out in finding a temporary replacement – and it’s not who you might expect.

Co-hosting alongside Tommy Little for Wednesday afternoon’s show is none other than Aussie country music superstar Keith Urban.

The Grammy Award winner will fill-in for the 3:00pm to 4:30pm radio slot before heading off to host the ARIA Awards at The Star in Sydney tonight.

The unlikely duo are set to chat about the 51-year-old’s newest album Graffiti U, featuring hit single ‘Way Too Long’, along with chatting about how he feels to be back in his home country.

This comes after Carrie’s emotional final radio show last week where she broke down in tears full of worry about adding a new member to her family of four.

The 37-year-old mum spoke of her concerns about the impact a new baby would have on the close bond formed between her other two kids, Ollie, 11, and Evie, three.

“They’re so cute together,” Carrie said.

“They’re a little team. He (Ollie) never thought he was going to get a baby brother or sister and then he got a little sister and they’re seven years apart and they’re joined at the hip,” she continued.

“And I know families of three and I know they’ll all love each other so much, but I don’t want anything to happen to their bond. So it makes me a little sad,” she said.

However, despite her concerns, Carrie said: “I’m very excited about my expanding family.”

“Ollie thinks we’re having a boy and Evie thinks we’re having a girl so one of them is going to be very disappointed and one very excited,’ she added.

Carrie had her eldest son Ollie during her relationship with her late husband Greg Lange who sadly passed away in 2010 after suffering from brain cancer.

She then met her new partner, Chris Walker, who was a TV producer at The Project, and together they brought young Evie into the world.

Now with their youngest child on its way, the family couldn’t be more excited.
