Um, Finally: Andy Cohen Breaks Silence on Bravo Recasting ‘Vanderpump Rules’

In the event that you’re wondering what the recasting of Vanderpump Rules is going to look like, Andy Cohen went ahead and compared it to the Real Housewives of New York reboot. In other words: same show format, new group of players.

“In RHONY’s case, we had 13 seasons of a show that was so beloved and so great,” Andy said on Andy Cohen Live. “And it went on and on, and sometimes for a show, it’s the end of the road or it’s time to curve or swerve or pivot, and that’s where we were with RHONY, and that is what is happening with Vanderpump Rules.”

He also said that the recast was “the absolute right thing to do” and a “very smart programming move,” shouting-out the team by saying, “I’m so impressed with the gang from Vanderpump Rules. The production team and the folks on the show. Specifically, the folks on the show, who always remained very true to themselves. Like it or hate it or like them or hate them, they were always very much themselves, and that’s what made that show so entertaining and surprising season after season.”

According to People, the original VPR cast learned they were no longer on the show just one day prior to the news going public, and a source noted, “They’re understandably upset that it’s all coming to an end, but no one was necessarily surprised. It’s more relief that they finally have an answer.”

The insider added: “There had been a long pause in production, and nothing had really changed among the cast since the reunion. Everyone was still stuck in their feelings and refusing to bend. The network felt there was no path forward with the group in that capacity.”
