Ukraine and nine others qualify for Eurovision finale

The first semi-final of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest took place on May 7 in Malmö, Sweden, determining the 10 countries advancing to the Grand Final. Ukraine is among them.

Sweden hosts Eurovision 2024 following Loreen's victory in the 67th contest, hosted by the United Kingdom on behalf of Ukraine. In the first semi-final, 14 other countries vied for a spot in the final.

Ukraine is represented by the duo of singers Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil with their song "Teresa & Maria," winners of the national selection for Eurovision 2024 held in Kyiv in February.

Based on viewer voting, the following 10 countries advanced to the grand final along with Ukraine:

1. Serbia: Teya Dora – "Ramonda"

2. Portugal: Iolanda – "Grito"

3. Slovenia: Raiven – "Veronika"

4. Ukraine: Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil – "Teresa & Maria"

5. Lithuania: Silvester Belt – "Luktelk"

6. Finland: Windows 95man – "No Rules!"

7. Cyprus: Silia Capsis – "Lia"

8. Croatia: Baby Lasagna – "Rim Tim Tagi Dim"

9. Ireland: Bambie Thug – "Doomsday Blue"

10. Luxembourg: Tali – "Fighter"

The second semi-final, scheduled for May 9, will feature 16 countries.

37 countries are competing in this year's Eurovision, including 31 in the first and second semi-finals, as well as the "Big Five" – four founding countries of the festival and the winner from the previous year.

Cyprus, Serbia, Lithuania, Ireland, Ukraine, Poland, Croatia, Iceland, Slovenia, Finland, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Australia, Portugal, and Luxembourg were competing for a spot in the grand final in the first semi-final.

The stage direction for the Ukrainian performers was prepared by the globally renowned director Tanu Muiño, who has collaborated with stars like Dua Lipa, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, Harry Styles, Lenny Kravitz, and others, and has been nominated twice for a Grammy Award.
