Uber Is Launching Safaris in South Africa — and No, They're Not in a Camry (Exclusive)

The ride sharing giant is going wild, introducing a service that will pick up guests from Cape Town for a day of game viewing for a flat fee

Uber is getting wild with its latest release!

The ride share giant is introducing safari day trips from Cape Town, South Africa. they announced on Monday, Sept. 30.

The launch, part of their "Go Anywhere" program of limited edition experiences, follows several other adventures available in the high season, including Uber hot air balloons in Cappadocia, Turkey in 2024 and Uber boats, which launched in Greece before expanding to Italy and Spain.

Uber's safaris will be a full-day outing departing from Cape Town for Aquila Private Game Reserve, a wildlife conservancy about a two hour drive from the city. Upon arrival, guests will transfer from a typical ride share vehicle to a traditional safari truck and set out to seek the famous big five — elephants, rhinos, lions, African buffalo and leopards —  in the wild, as well as plenty of other wildlife.

While many traditional safaris are a bucket-list trip requiring a multi-night stay at a remote and often-pricey luxury camp, Uber's offering is intended to be much more accessible for the casual traveler — and extremely budget friendly at just $200 flat fee for up to four guests.

The cost includes transfer to and from the reserve from Cape Town, the safari itself, lunch and a champagne toast at Aquila, as well as leisure time with access to their grounds.

The safaris will be available to book throughout South Arrica's high season for Friday and Saturday safaris Oct. 4 through Jan. 25, 2025. Though Uber warns availability will be limited, so early booking is encouraged.

Bookings open Oct. 2.
