TVLine Items: Marvel’s What If…? Trailer, Jon Hamm’s Hostage Series and More

Things are decidedly twisted in the multiverse, as teased in a first trailer for Season 2 of Disney+ and Marvel’s animated What If…? anthology, which premieres Friday, Dec. 22 and will release a new episode each of nine “nights.”

Season 2 continues the journey as The Watcher (voiced by Jeffrey Wright) guides viewers through the vast multiverse, introducing new and familiar faces throughout the MCU — including fan-favorite characters such as Nebula, Hela (wait, Hela is a fan favorite?) and Happy Hogan.

* Jon Hamm (Mad Men) is attached to star in American Hostage, a psychological thriller from executive producer Shawn Ryan (The Night Agent, S.W.A.T.) that is being shopped to streamers, per The Hollywood Reporter. The potential series is based on the narrative podcast of the same name, in which Hamm voices a role, and is described as “the harrowing true story of Fred Heckman (Hamm), a beloved Indianapolis radio reporter who is thrust into the middle of a life-or-death crisis when hostage-taker, Tony Kiritsis, demands to be interviewed on his popular radio news program.”

* Keke Palmer will host the Soul Train Awards 2023, airing Sunday, Nov. 26 at 8 pm ET/PT on BET and BET Her.

* Mariah Carery will deliver what is being touted as her “first-ever award show performance” of “All I Want for Christmas Is You” at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, being held Sunday, Nov. 19 at 8 pm and streaming at BBMAs.watch.

* I Can See Your Voice Season 3, with host Ken Jeong and celebrity panelists Cheryl Hines and Adrienne Bailon-Houghton, will premiere Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 8 pm on Fox, followed by the new game show We Are Family.

* The New Look, a 10-episode drama starring Ben Mendelsohn (as Christian Dior), Juliette Binoche (Coco Chanel) and Maisie Williams (Catherine Dior), will debut with its first three episodes on Wednesday, Feb. 14 on Apple TV+, followed by one installment weekly through April 3.

* MGM+ has released a trailer for Belgravia: The Next Chapter, premiering Sunday, Jan. 14 at 9 pm:
