The truth behind Shane Warne and Liz Hurley's split

Shane Warne and Elizabeth Hurley parted ways in December 2013 after a whirlwind three-year relationship, but the pair have remained incredibly close.

Nearly five years on, Warnie has now revealed the truth behind the split from his ex-fiancé in his new autobiography, No Spin.

Despite “being more in love with her than [he] ever realised [he] could be”, things didn’t work out for the couple.

The 49-year-old admits there was “no single, clear reason” why they didn’t make it up the aisle, although hints the time the 53-year-old spent with her ex Hugh Grant may have played a factor.

“The more you’re apart, the more you ask questions,” Shane says. “I got jumpy about the time Elizabeth still spent with Hugh Grant…

“He is her best friend but they saw each other more when I wasn’t around so, well, you know.”

Hugh and Liz were together for 13 years, but split amicably in 2000.

Shane and Liz still share a flirty relationship, particularly on social media which has previously sparked rumours the pair have reunited, but in his autobiography Shane insists they just care for one another “deeply”.

“We still love each other in many ways — we’re not in love, like we were — but I still care for her deeply,” he says.

“I think we were good for each other and I know that I miss the love we had.”
