Travis Kelce is hoping to cut back on the sweets, and lying to himself is the best way to make it happen.

During the Wednesday, Oct. 2 episode of the New Heights podcast, the 34-year-old was talking to brother Jason Kelce about trying to resist a box of donuts sent to them.

“The yellow boxes are dangerous,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said, admitting that he needs to maintain his diet and stay in shape for the NFL season.

“I'm at that point in the season where I'm like, let me just push it away,” he said. “I see that golden glazed donut just sitting in the yellow box. I'm just like, ‘I don't need that today. I'll get it tomorrow,’ knowing that they don't have boxes of donuts in the building every day.”

“[I] just lie to myself so that I don't just grab 10 donuts and run around the corner and just stuff my face like a little fat kid,” Travis quipped.

Jason, 36, then told his brother that “it’s a sad day” when you reach the point in your NFL career where you can’t eat whatever you want anymore. The retired Philadelphia Eagles center said he used to eat ice cream the night before games but eventually his body couldn’t handle it.

“Then I got to year 12 and I ate some ice cream and I tried to play football the next day and I’m like, ‘Oh s–. this is real,” Jason recalled before Travis laughed and joked, “Why am I so lethargic today? I just feel like a big blob. Yeah. Am I bloated?”

Last year, Travis and Jason spoke about their diets throughout their childhood, both poking fun at their father Ed Kelce after he said that growing children need "protein with every meal, a carb with every meal, and fruits and vegetables."

The NFL stars found their dad's suggestion comical, considering they remember eating a much less balanced diet growing up.

"We never got vegetables growing up," Travis claimed on their podcast. "I never ate a single vegetable growing up."

The father-of-two argued that both boys ate "green beans and corn" as kids, but Jason agreed with Travis, who replied: "We ate Giorgio's Oven Fresh Pizza every single night.
