“Trans People Are Not Invisible”: The Internet Is Praising Lady Gaga’s Shoutout To The Trans Community In Her Grammy Acceptance Speech

While we can't endorse what X has become, we can bring you the worthwhile moments that still exist there, curated and free of the surrounding chaos.

This year’s Grammy Awards were absolutely CARRIED by the girls.

Charli XCX got a win with BRAT for Best Dance/Electronic Album. Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan, two of 2024’s biggest rising stars, both took home their first Grammy Awards — not to mention my girl Doechii, another first time winner who became the third woman ever to win Best Rap Album.

Beyoncé finally got her Album of the Year and we all cried. And Lady Gaga took home her 14th Grammy award for “Die with a Smile,” winning Best Pop Duo/Group Performance alongside Bruno Mars.

And when accepting the award, Gaga used her time onstage to make a bold and necessary statement.

“I just want to say tonight that trans people are not invisible,” she began. “Trans people deserve love.”

“The queer community deserves to be lifted up. Music is love,” Gaga concluded as the audience rose in a standing ovation.

Gaga’s speech follows the Trump administration’s new legislation surrounding the transgender community.

In case you missed it, President Trump targeted the trans community as soon as he came into office last month, signing an executive order dismissing LGBTQ+ protections, along with new requirements about legal identification documents.

Gaga has been a longtime outspoken ally to the trans community, so fans were ecstatic to see her using her platform to speak up at such a crucial moment.

In a similar vein, Chappell Roan (another outspoken ally to the trans community) used a red carpet interview as an opportunity to speak up last night.

On the red carpet, Chappell spoke with GLAAD and stared down the camera to deliver a powerful message.

“It’s brutal right now, but trans people have always existed and they will forever exist,” she declared. “And they will never, no matter what happens, take trans joy away, and that has to be protected more than anything because I would not be here without trans girls.”

“Just know that pop music is thinking about you and cares about you,” she said, pointing to herself. “I’m doing my best to really stand up for you in every way I can.”
