Tori Amos is back, but maybe not in the way you’d expect.

The singer-songwriter, best-known for her ‘90s confessional piano ballads, has just published her debut children’s book titled Tori and the Muses.

This isn’t Amos’ first book. In 2020, she published the New York Times bestseller adult book Resistance: A Songwriter’s Story of Hope, Change, and Courage.

The new book, illustrated by Demelsa Haughton, follows a young Amos as the musician searches for inspiration after being forced to practice for recitals by her father. Amos also released a companion soundtrack for the book on Feb. 28, allowing readers to take a journey through the book with musical accompaniment.

To celebrate its publication on Tuesday, March 4, Amos took to Instagram to post some images from the book accompanied by the song “Knocking” from the companion album.

“We are so scited to have this book out in the world and hope it brings you closer to your own Muses!” reads the caption.

Amos’ fans approved. “This is SO BIG and such a perfect circle in my life and relationship with your music!!! And so special to see how this is so for so many of us! Thank you thank you Thank you for being you and bringing all this light into the world!!! Top fan here 🤘,” read one comment.

Interestingly, before the musician/author became a solo artist, she was in a band called Y Kant Tori Read, which released a self-titled album in 1988 that was a stiff.

Billboard referred to me as a bimbo,” Amos said in a recent interview with BBC Radio 2. “I did give up. There was a part of me that just gave up, and it’s pretty bleak because I had to ask the question to myself, ‘So, Tori, how do you go from prodigy to Bimbo? How do you do that?’ So I had to cry on the kitchen floor in my little apartment in L.A. and pick myself up.”
