Tom Hardy is Marvel’s next hot superhero

He’s one of the biggest actors in the world, and Tom Hardy is about to add another milestone gig to his resume.

The 39-year-old will be the next A-lister to pull on the lycra for Marvel, following in the footsteps of stars like Chris Pratt and Chris Hemsworth – except his role will be slightly less heroic!

It’s been confirmed that the actor will play the villainous Venom, who is an enemy of Spider-man’s, in a standalone film to be released next year.

Sony Pictures took to Twitter to share the Venom news, posting a selfie of Tom in a themed tee.

“Tom Hardy is Eddie Brock in #Venom, the upcoming film from Sony’s Marvel Universe releasing October 5, 2018 – production starts this fall,” the caption read.

It’s not the first time Tom’s played a baddie in a comic-book movie, with the star getting ridiculously buff to play Bane in 2012’s Batman flick The Dark Knight Rises.
