"They used to Skype and text, but that trailed off drastically,” another source told the magazine.
"He uses his film commitments as an excuse, but the truth is that doesn’t hold much weight with Suri anymore."
Cruise split with Suri's mother, Katie, in 2012, when his daughter was just six years old.
Despite originally spending lots of time with his young daughter - who is his only biological child - sources say the actor's connection to the Church of Scientology is the reason behind his lack of recent attention.
"Tom eats, breathes and sleeps Scientology,” the source said.
"He’s disconnected from Katie, and then de facto from Suri, because of her connection to Katie. He hasn’t seen her since she was 7."
The controversial policy of the religion states that members are not allowed to interact or associate with anyone who has left the church.
Holmes severed ties with the religion when she divorced Tom four years ago, and took her daughter with her.
Late last year, ex-Scientologist Lisa Remini made shocking claims about the life of Suri Cruise in her book, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology.
The former King of Queens actress claimed baby Suri was left to 'cry for hours' during Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes lavish wedding.
According to Remini, "the wails of a 7-month-old infant" could be heard throughout the extravagant pre-wedding dinner.
After becoming concerned, the actress ventured to find where young Suri was, and found "three women staring at the infant" that was lying on the bathroom floor.
She writes that the three women, including Tom Cruise's sister and his assistant, were "gaping at the hungry child as if she was 'L. Ron Hubbard incarnate'".
