Today show slammed for 'despicable and desperate' Britney Spears meme post
Fans called out the morning show for sharing mean meme on Instagram
The Today show has angered fans by reposting an Instagram post that exploits singer Britney Spears by making fun of her.
While the original was posted by Donald Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr, fans of Britney and Today have accused the Nine network's morning show of piling on by reposting the original post.
Today captioned the images alongside the caption : "Britney Spears' ex-husband Sam Asghari has labelled Donald Trump Jr. a bully after he posted this photo with the caption, "Yup"."
But many pointed out that the show was appearing to perpetuate the bullying by resharing it.
"Why are you reposting this crap??? I’m sorry BUT BY REPOSTING THIS YOU ARE JUST AS BIGGER BULLIES. FFS today show you’re a MESS!!! This is despicable and desperate for headlines," one person commented.
"Yeah not funny she doesn’t deserve this treatment remove this post it’s disgusting and demeaning towards her," another person wrote.
"Read the room ... hate her or love her this type of bullying is not ok! Hope you don't have daughters," another added.
Many followers reserved their anger for the original poster, Donald Trump Jr, with one person saying it's 'wrong on so many levels'.
"So good that her ex has called it out. You don't talk sh** about her even though you're not together. That's a good fella. Trump, however, once again shows us who he is," another pointed out.
