Today host Georgie Gardner's 'tense private meeting' with Channel Nine boss

Georgie Gardner has been hosting the Today show since the start of 2018, after she took over from popular host Lisa Wilkinson.

Since then she’s fronted the Channel Nine breakfast show alongside Karl Stefanovic, and then Deborah Knight.

Now reports have emerged that the 49-year-old has had a “tense private meeting” with the TV network’s management, which perhaps suggests things are not so rosy behind the scenes.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Georgie met with Channel Nine’s head of news, Darren Wick, at the end of August, “for a closed-door chat”.

The publication reports that alleged sources have “identified a number of items on Gardner’s personal list of grievances that she has been agitating for Nine management to address”.

It’s being said that the experience and skills of producers is one of them.

Yahoo Lifestyle has contacted Channel Nine for comment.

Last year New Idea magazine published an interview with an Uber driver, who claimed to have heard an explosive 45-minute conversation between Karl Stefanovic and his younger brother Peter, in which Karl said Georgie needed to 'step up' after taking over Lisa Wilkinson's hosting role.

As well as apparently accusing her of 'sitting on the fence', the Uber driver claimed an 'angry' Karl's criticism of his co-host involved him saying 'she didn't have enough opinions'.

After Karl’s dumping in late 2018, Deborah Knight was chosen to replace Karl as co-host on Today alongside Georgie Gardner.

More recently fans have urged Ben Fordham to take over as host of Today. Viewers will just have to watch this space.
