Today host Ally Langdon rushed to hospital with ‘really bad’ injury
Today host Alison Langdon has been rushed to hospital after injuring herself ‘really badly’ while filming the breakfast TV program on location in Burleigh Heads, Queensland, on Thursday.
Dramatic footage aired on the show, showing Ally lying on her back in the water wearing a life vest as she was guided to shore by two men. Sitting on the jetty afterwards, her co-host, Karl Stefanovic, was seen helping Ally take her helmet off.
Karl revealed the shock news live on air on Friday morning, explaining that Ally, 41, was doing ‘OK’ and was being treated in a local hospital after her accident.
“She had a bit of an accident yesterday, she's doing fine,” he said.
“She hurt herself really badly. She's in hospital this morning. She's OK,” he added.

‘Awkward landing’
Leila McKinnon, who was filling in for Ally, jumped in to say that she’d received a heartening message from the invalided host earlier that morning.
“She messaged me this morning at 3 am asking how I liked the alarm, so she still has the same, great spirit, but yeah doing it a bit tough. But she is a tough one,” Leila said.
Karl, 46, finished by promising viewers that they would ‘touch base’ with Ally later in the program for an update on her recovery.
A Nine spokesperson tells Yahoo Lifestyle that Ally ‘hurt her leg’ while taking part in a watersport activity with Karl and that the presenter would return home to Sydney ‘over the weekend’.
“Ally hurt her leg after landing awkwardly during filming a story yesterday and was sent to hospital.
“She is expected to return home to Sydney over the weekend. We wish her well and a speedy recovery.
“We thank Leila McKinnon for taking a late-night call to join Karl for the Today OB at Burleigh Heads.”
‘Bit of a mishap’
In an Instagram Story on the show’s official account, Leila — who has hosted Weekend Today in the past — revealed how she had stepped in at the eleventh hour to cover for Ally after her accident.
“So I got the call last night and I was in my pyjamas,” Leila said.
“Ally’s had a bit of a mishap so I quickly got changed and headed up the road,” she added.
“Great to have Leila with us,” Karl piped up.
