TikTokers are calling this vacation outfit planning hack a total game changer: ‘you are living in the year 3000’

There are two types of vacation packers: those of us who have it down to a science, planning what we’ll bring days or maybe even weeks in advance, and those of us who more or less wing it the night before, throwing everything we own into our suitcase and hoping for the best.

Luckily, though, a new outfit-planning hack is sweeping TikTok, and it might just offer the help some of us last-minute packers desperately need.

Though the hack has gone viral in a recent clip shared by Alexandra Goeders (@alexandragoeders), the TikToker admits she was actually inspired by the beauty, fashion and lifestyle influencer Ashley Lopes (@wearsashley), who had previously posted something similar.

In the eight-second clip, Goeders shows herself trying on various outfits in her bedroom and snapping a photo while standing in front of a full-length mirror. After she’s done with the little photo shoot, she then copies the image, edits out the background and drops the remaining cut-out in her Notes app.

There, we see multiple thumbnail-sized images of Goeders wearing different outfits for various outings. Each one is also separated into different categories, such as “Casual/Beach/Pool” and “Dinners/Shows/Dancing.”

The idea is to whittle down a set group of outfits she already knows she feels good in before packing them away in her suitcase. Then, once she’s on vacation, she can quickly refer to her Notes app without having to think about what she should pair with what.

“decided to try this hack I saw from @Ashley Lopes and it’s sooo helpful for planning out what to bring on vacation!” Goeders wrote in her post caption.

It’s no secret that TikTok loves a good travel hack. Just consider the airline passenger who went viral for sharing tips on how to get the best plane seat or the TikToker who shared how she uses a neck pillow to avoid paying extra luggage fees.

But Goeders’s travel hack seems to appeal to a whole new crowd of travelers.

Right away, viewers were mesmerized by the simple yet clever packing hack, which they called “genius,” “so smart,” and even “revolutionary.”

“Girl you are living in the year 3000 and I need to come join you,” one user wrote.

“ALEXANDRA YOU JUST MADE MY OCD INSANELY HAPPY,” added another.

“Super helpful when I’m trying to pack light!” wrote someone else. “Someone thought I was crazy when I showed them I did this lol.”

“This just changed my travel game!” one TikToker wrote.

“Ok I’ll do this definitely,” added another.

“thank you for your service,” a third person commented.
