Thirstily Wondering Who Fiyero Ends Up With in 'Wicked' Part Two?
Call your therapist and set a calendar reminder for November 21, 2025, because that is the day you'll need to discuss the fact that you're now attracted to scarecrows. It also happens to be the day Wicked Part Two drops, and we reunite with this man / future pile of hay:
For those of you who didn't watch Wicked on Broadway due to making huge mistakes in your life (it's fine, me too), Fiyero goes through pretty big personal changes in part two. Including in regards to his love life.
Find out what happens and whomst he ends up with below—but first, a helpful recap of Wicked Part One, though honestly not sure what the point is since I can only assume you've seen it multiple times. Just in case, though:
A Quick Reminder of Fiyero's Antics Thus Far
To put it simply: he shows up at Shiz University, ruins a bunch of perfectly innocent and extremely old-looking books while "dancing through life," starts dating Glinda, and then rescues a baby lion cub with Elphaba. This leads to a sexually tense moment in the woods, not to mention the beginnings of a love triangle we'll be exploring in Wicked Part Two. Which brings us to....
🚨SPOILERS🚨
Fiyero Is the Captain of the Wizard's Guards
Technically, Fiyero is in charge of arresting Elphaba now that she's The Wicked Witch of the West—but really he's just trying to find her because he's down bad. In case you couldn't tell from this heated moment.
Glinda and Fiyero Get Engaged
Before you spiral, the engagement is foisted upon him by Madame Morrible, who announces it to the people of Oz without Fiyero even being clued in. In the stage play, his reaction is basically ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but gonna assume the movie will dive into the complexities of this moment a bit more.
Fiyero Turns Into the Scarecrow
Fiyero and Elphaba reunite and declare their love through song, which, obviously. But thanks to helping Elphaba escape from the Wizard's guards (and giving her access to his family castle as a hiding place), Fiyero ends up getting arrested and dragged off into a field—which prompts a panicked Elphaba to cast a protection spell to help him out. Unfortunately, turns out Elphaba is truly terrible at casting spells and Fiyero turns into a human haybale, aka The Scarecrow.
The Scarecrow's adventure with Dorothy, The Lion, and The Tin Man happens "off-stage" (and presumably off-camera)—but viewers of The Wizard of Oz know he eventually reunites with Elphaba when Dorothy melts her. The thing is...
Elphaba Fakes Her Death and They Live Bittersweetly-Ever-After
Elphaba concocts a plan to fake her own death by getting Dorothy to throw a bucket of water on her. (Note: Rumors about her melting at the mere touch of water have been floating around Oz for a while.)
At this point, Glinda returns to Oz to take down The Wizard and Madame Morrible, and Fiyero and Elphaba reunite in secret. After a sweet moment declaring their feelings, Elphie is basically like "it's cool if you're made of hay now, still hot," and they leave Oz together. Annnnd, that's all! Romantic, but definitely a bit bittersweet since Glinda thinks they're dead.
