The teacher who greeted Prince George on his first day of school
Young Prince George started his first day of school at Thomas’s Battersea in London and was accompanied by his father Prince William.
Unfortunately his mother, Kate Middleton, was not able to attend because she's still suffering badly from hyperemesis gravidarum – severe morning sickness.
George was, however, greeted by a friendly face from the school Ms Helen Haslem who is the Head of Lower School at Thomas’s Battersea.
Ms Haslem shook hands with the young royal and then walked hand-in-hand with William taking George’s other hand walking him into the reception classroom.
She will see Prince George through the early years of his schooling at Thomas's Battersea up until year two. Then the royal will transition into the middle school.
“The emphasis in the Lower School is enjoyment and this is embedded in our broad curriculum and our most important school rule of ‘Be Kind’,” Ms Haslem says in a statement on the prep school’s website.
“We are proud of our creative curriculum and the children quickly become immersed in their topics and engage in all learning experiences presented to them,” she also states.
The Head of Lower School wore a muted blush coloured long-sleeved dress and matching shoes as she greeted the young royal on his first day.
The $30,000 per year school has a major emphasis on kindness amongst pupils.
On the school’s website the headmaster Simon O’Malley states that the school’s core values are “courtesy, confidence, humility and learning to be givers, not takers.”
Pupils at the school are expected to turn into “flourish as conscientious and caring citizens of the world” and the school will “equip pupils for life in modern Britain.”
The prep school also discourages students to from having any best friends to avoid any pupils being left out.
It has been an exciting week for the little royal after Kensington Palace announced another little sibling for George and his little sister Princess Charlotte is on the way.
