The Project host Carrie Bickmore's humiliating gaffe live on-air: 'OMG'

Carrie Bickmore ‘lost the plot’ while hosting Tuesday night’s episode of The Project.

She made multiple slip-ups while on-air and Waleed Aly’s replacement Kate Langbroek constantly had her in stitches.

Sharing a selection of her mistakes on Instagram, she apologised to fans in her caption.

“Lost the plot on tonight’s show…and this is only a small sample of the mayhem. I blame Kate Langbroek. Sorry everyone!” she quipped.

Her first blunder came when she interviewed Guardian political reporter Amy Remeikis about the possibility of a national anti-corruption watchdog in Australia.

“She joins us now,” she stuttered, before bursting into laughter and adding: “Sorry, I’m really struggling tonight.”

“Amy, what do you think — do you think this has the capacity to have some big head roll — some big heads roll?” she asked, before putting her head in her hands out of embarrassment.

The reporter spoke to the panellists with an alarm that signalled a ‘senate division’ in the background.

Peter Helliar didn’t miss a chance to take a dig at Carrie, replying: “We’re just realising that the alarm is on our end, it’s actually the minibar in Carrie’s dressing room, the alarm has gone off.”

That wasn’t the only time Carrie found herself red-faced during the episode, as another segment had her exclaiming that she’d ‘never found a lost dog’.

The hosts were discussing the Australian man who recently found 58 million dollars deposited into his bank account by accident.

While he returned it all to the bank, the hosts argued that he should ‘get a cut’, like a ‘finders fee’ for being honest.

“If you find someone’s lost dog, they give you a reward,” Kate pointed out.

“Do they? Oh, what do you get? I’ve never found a lost dog,” Carrie replied, while struggling to keep her composure.

“Haven’t you ever seen ‘Lost Dog - Reward’ — on like a pole on the street?” Kate asked exasperatedly.

Carrie completely lost it and started laughing hysterically, while Peter took another chance to tease his cohost.

“Our producers are telling us pre-show drinks are cancelled! No more, no more,” he quipped.

It wasn’t long before Carrie’s post was flooded with comments from her celebrity friends and fans.

“I’m still not sure what happened tonight,” Kate Langbroek wrote, while Peter Helliar added: “I found four lost dogs on the way home tonight alone.”

“This is the best Carrie!!!! Kate’s face when you didn’t know about the lost dog reward lol,” radio host Jackie O commented.

“Tonight’s show was funny as! I really hope you are back on tomorrow night as I hope they don’t fire you,” one fan joked.

“OMG, send help. I can’t stop watching this and laughing. Poor Carrie,” another wrote.
