The Chase star shows off weight loss after marriage woes

The Chase star Mark Labbett, also known as The Beast, is almost unrecognisable in new photos showing off an impressive 20kg weight loss.

Asked to host a pub quiz at the Cleveland Bay pub in Eaglescliffe, UK, Mark was also presented with a special pie by pub owner Peter Rafferty, before snaps of the night were posted to Facebook.

“Last night, ‘the Beast’ from the Chase joined quiz-goers at the Cleveland Bay for a ‘Celebrity Quiz’,” Peter captioned the images.

Mark said a diagnosis of diabetes was what spurred him on to lose some weight, something he revealed in a previous interview with the Loose Women panel.

“I’m waiting for my next check up and I’m hoping the figures are going to be better. I’m still eating very well – I'm just cutting out sugar because of the Type 2 diabetes,” he told the program.

Over the last six months he’s been able to lose 20kg after cutting sugar and running around after his young son, also adding that breakfast played a huge part as well.

“The big secret, which somebody told me is the thing that all people who are very, very overweight have in common, is that they don't eat breakfast,” he added.

Fans were quick to congratulate the quiz expert on his hard work.

“Well done loosing weight is the hardest thing to do you look like a different person keep it up,” one person commented.

“Wow, you look amazing, well done Mark,” another added.

“I take my hat off to you sir,” was a third comment.

While another person said: “Well done you look great, my favourite player of all.”

Mark’s weight loss after marriage woes

Mark’s incredible weight loss comes after the star was faced with marriage woes earlier in the year after reports his wife Katie had found love with a much younger man.

Reports suggest she was having an affair with 28-year-old Scott Bate, according to The Sun, but last month Mark let his ring do the talking, flashing the marriage band to announce he and wife Katie remain together despite a highly-publicised alleged cheating scandal and supposed marriage breakdown.

Though Katie appeared to confirm her new relationship and split from her husband back in May, it seems the star-crossed lovers are back on, and working things out.

“Like a lot of relationships, you go through a rough patch. Our absolute priority is our son, and we’re working our way through it,” Mark told the program.

He says the pair’s focus is now on their marriage and shared son, who Mark is determined to keep out of the limelight.

Mark, 53, married Katie, 26, in a fairytale wedding five years ago – despite realising that they were actually second cousins.

Mark and Katie’s fathers are first cousins, but they actually met through mutual friends and did not find out that they were related until later.

“It wasn’t something we were aware of (when we first started dating) – it was one of those things that happened,” Mark told Loose Women in 2017.
