The Block contestants Luke and Jasmine have already been accused of copying someone else’s design once this season and on Sunday night’s episode it looked like another cheating scandal was going to derail the stunning kitchen reveals.
Daniel and Jade were left frustrated after their curved Christian Cole-made fluted timber island bench didn’t appear to be as unique as they thought, when two days later Luke and Jasmine a very similar curved fluted wooden island bench.
“I’ll let the public decide at home. If they changed it or altered it the cameras would pick that up,” Daniel said in a piece to camera during the episode.
Of course it’s near impossible to change a design and order a new bench in the space of two days. And the design does also match Luke and Jasmine’s curved corrugated timber wall.
A builder for Luke and Jasmin actually revealed their bench was a 'midnight effort', which had foreman Keith wondering if we had another case of copying. Or if it was all a coincidence.
“Christian Cole (Daniel and Jade's island bench designer) came along and put this here... it's kind of weird how the next day something very similar happens one day later,” Keith said.
In the end, Scott Cam decides to do some investigating. He discovers Luke and Jasmine were planning the timber bench weeks ago. But it was all mute as one of their curves didn’t meet code so they were forced to square it off anyway.
During judging Shaynna Blaze described Daniel and Jade’s Christian Cole bench as “an heirloom”.
“That is beyond a work of art. It’s stunning,” she said.
When all was said and done Daniel and Jade placed first with 29-and-a-half points after using their ‘Extra point’ gnome advantage.
There was a tie for second place with 29 points - Harry and Tash, and Jimmy and Tam.
And in third place was both Sarah and George, and Luke and Jasmin on 28 points.
The Block continues on Channel Nine Monday 7:30pm.
