The Block contestant Luke Struber goes missing
The pressure is set to reach an all-time high on The Block this week with one of the contestants storming off the work site and disappearing for hours, leaving the show in chaos and his wife distraught.
In an upcoming episode of the reality TV series, the usually cheerful Luke Struber surprises everyone when he abruptly walks out mid-build, leaving wife Tess Cattana, 28, and the rest of the cast and crew dumbfounded.
Luke storms out
A nasty run-in with with site foreman Keith "The Blockinator" Schleiger causes Luke to snap, seeing him flee the Oslo hotel in his truck without telling anyone where he’s going, or when he will return.
Luke told Woman's Day that he fled after Keith’s shock decision to eject the couple’s plasterer - who he then banned for the remainder of the competition - over a safety breach.
“I was just super-overwhelmed with the build," Luke told the magazine. "It was such a stressful time [losing the plasterers] - I was kind of kissing the wind goodbye”.
Tess in distress
Unbeknownst to a concerned Tess, Luke ended up driving almost three hours to pick up the insulation for the other contestants.
He revealed that he was forced to escape the on-site tension for his own sanity and to avoid burdening others.
"Everyone is fighting their own battles - they aren't listening to your problems, so I just drove,” he said.
When he finally returned, Luke was met with a cranky crew, with foreman Dan Reilly accusing him of “not taking it seriously”.
Luke later bit back, saying that both Keith and Dan should focus more on being foremen rather than “problem finders”.
“We sacrificed a lot to get down there and we were about to embarrass ourselves on national television,’ he said.
Tess and Luke’s big blow-up
Luke’s disappearance comes after the newlyweds were blasted by viewers over their explicit on-set spat earlier in the season.
“F**k you’re a d**khead,” Tess said to her husband during an interview with producers.
“Honestly I could knock you out square in the face and punch you.”
The fight erupted while the couple were trying to reach a decision on paint and while the pair have had a number of blow ups on camera, this was the first to sparked true concerns among viewers.
The Block airs 7.30pm Sunday to Wednesday on Channel Nine.
