‘Temptation Island’ Sets March Premiere Date at Netflix

Netflix is expanding its dating show portfolio with “Temptation Island.” The reality series, which originally debuted in 2001, will be coming to the streaming platform with a new season on March 12.

The series follows four unmarried couples who are at a crossroads and have decided to put their relationship to the ultimate test by living in separate villas; the men will live in one with a group of single women while the women will live in a house of single men. In past seasons, though they can’t communicate with their partners, they are shown select footage of what their significant other is doing while apart, causing quite a bit of drama.

As Netflix’s official logline asks, “Will the choices they make push the couples closer together or farther apart into the arms of a new lover?”

Mark L. Walberg has been the host of the series from its start. Produced by Banijay Studios North America, David Goldberg and David Friedman serve as executive producers.

“Temptation Island” originally debuted on Fox, where it aired for three seasons from 2001 to 2003; although the premise was controversial, seemingly convincing those in a relationship to cheat on their significant others, it received high ratings.

In 2019, USA Network revived the series and it aired for five more seasons between 2019 and 2023. The new version — the first time the format will be streaming — will be the ninth season.

“Temptation Island” joins the many unscripted dating shows at Netflix, including “Love Is Blind,” “Too Hot to Handle,” “The Ultimatum” and “Perfect Match.”
