Team USA Finalizes Roster for 2024 MXoN with Sexton, Plessinger, and Hymas
The roster for Team USA at the upcoming Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations, which will be held in early October in the United Kingdom, is now official.
While Red Bull KTM Factory Racing teammates Chase Sexton (2024 AMA 450MX Pro Motocross Champion) and Aaron Plessinger (3rd Overall 2024 AMA 450MX Pro Motocross) were confirmed earlier this week for the 450cc spots, the final rider for the MX2 position was announced today from the AMA: Team Honda HRC's Chance Hymas (4th Overall 250MX AMA Pro Motocross)! The Idaho native will make his MXoN debut alongside Sexton and Plessinger in the United Kingdom.
Both Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing riders Eli Tomac and Haiden Deegan were strong contenders for Team USA. Tomac, competing for one of the 450cc spots, ultimately decided that Aaron Plessinger deserved the spot. After the Ironman Raceway National, he said he wasn’t fully prepared, and Aaron earned the spot.
Deegan, considered for the MX2 position, needs surgery to remove hardware from his wrist after the SMX series, leading to Hymas' selection. Sexton will race in the MXGP class, Plessinger in the Open class, and Hymas will represent the MX2 class.
Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Levi Kitchen was also a thoughtful choice for Team USA's MX2 division.
