Taco Bell is constantly rolling out new innovations. It seems like we get something new from the Tex-Mex restaurant every week, but it's no surprise, really. In early 2024, Taco Bell hosted a live event where it announced dozens of new menu items that would be released this year.

So far, we’ve already seen things like the Cheesy Chicken Crispanada, Big Cheez-It menu, and Crispy Chicken Nuggets. Now, a long-awaited version of the fan-favorite chalupa is finally launching at restaurants.

On July 18, Taco Bell is adding the Cheesy Street Chalupa to menus nationwide.

Taco Bell Introduces Cheesy Street Chalupa

The Cheesy Street Chalupa was announced at Live Más LIVE after a successful test run in 2023. It combines the classic flavors of traditional street tacos with a cheesy shell that’s reminiscent of a discontinued fan favorite.

The Cheesy Street Chalupa is made with fresh onions, cilantro, Jalapeño Ranch sauce, and your choice of Cantina chicken or grilled steak in a double shell that’s stuffed with cheese and fried together, similar to the beloved Quesalupa. Taco Bell’s Quesalupa became a fast favorite thanks to its unique crispy shell that was lined with melty cheeses. It was discontinued in 2016—though it had another run in 2021—but is now the inspiration behind Taco Bell’s latest Cheesy Street Chalupa.

In this version, however, that crispy, fried Chalupa flatbread shell is accompanied by a second, smaller tortilla that adheres to it with a mixture of mozzarella and pepperjack cheese.

Taco Bell’s latest creation is street taco-sized, so each order comes with two Cheesy Street Chalupas for $5.49. The Cheesy Street Chalupas join menus for a limited time alongside the classic Chalupa Supreme and Black Bean Chalupa Surpeme, which have been Taco Bell classics since they debuted in 1999.

Just like the Quesalupa, though, the Cheesy Street Chalupas won’t be around forever, so enjoy it while you still can.
