Taco Bell Is Bringing Back This Ultra-Popular Menu Item

And it'll cost you just $2.

It's official: Taco Bell is bringing back its ultra-poplar Double Decker Taco. But only for an extremely limited time.

On Wednesday, the California-based fast food chain announced that the Double Decker taco, which was first introduced in the mid-90s, will return on October 10 before disappearing off of menus on October 30 nationwide (which feels like a tease, but we'll take it anyway).

As Taco Bell shared in a press release provided to Food & Wine, the Double Decker Taco will be available for just $2, which is "less than the previous comeback price in December 2023 of $2.99."

It additionally noted that the Double Decker Taco Supreme, which comes with "all the same known and loved indulgent flavors with diced tomatoes and reduced-fat sour cream," will also be up for grabs for $2.69, which is also "less than the previous comeback price in December 2023 of $3.69."

As a reminder, the  Double Decker Taco is a bean-filled tortilla that is then wrapped around a taco shell and filled with "craveable seasoned beef, fresh crisp lettuce, and shredded cheddar cheese," according to Taco Bell. Its cousin, the Double Decker Taco Supreme, is also a bean-filled tortilla that is wrapped around a taco shell and filled with that same "craveable seasoned beef, fresh crisp lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese," along with those diced tomatoes, and reduced-fat sour cream.

“The Double Decker Taco holds a deep space in the hearts of our Taco Bell Fans. The insane amount of love for this product from fans across our social platforms was impossible to ignore,” Taylor Montgomery, the chief marketing officer at Taco Bell, shared in a statement in 2023 during the Double Decker's last revival. “We listened to what our fans wanted from us and knew we couldn’t deny them the joy of the Double Decker Taco any longer.”

October really has already been a huge month for Taco Bell. As Food & Wine previously reported, the brand successfully lobbied to have the date of National Taco Day changed to the first Tuesday in October each year (in 2024, it fell on October 1) to align with Taco Tuesday.

“For years, we’ve celebrated National Taco Day on October 4, but it’s always felt like there was a bigger opportunity to align it with something even more special — Taco Tuesday,” Marlo Anderson, founder of National Day Calendar, shared in a statement. “Thanks to Taco Bell's efforts, we’re excited to officially move National Taco Day to the first Tuesday in October, creating the Taco Tuesday of all Taco Tuesdays. It’s more than just moving a date — it’s about bringing taco lovers together in a bigger way, and we couldn’t be more excited!"

And while it's not National Taco Day, next Tuesday still feels like a very ideal time to double down on your love for Tacos.
