Yahoo Lifestyle 'SVU' Fans Can't Stop Talking About Olivia's Chemistry With the New DA
We might've loved Tony Goldwyn as President Fitz in Shonda Rhimes' hit Scandal, but we're loving him even more in Law and Order as District Attorney Nicholas Baxter — and we aren't the only ones. In fact, more and more fans are begging Tony's character to get together with another favorite, SVU Sergeant Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay, after seeing their chemistry on-screen and on set.
In a joint Instagram reel posted a few weeks ago by Mariska, Wolf Entertainment and the Law and Order Instagram account, fans saw a compilation of behind-the-scenes clips of the various cast members, like Mariska, Tony, Ice-T, Peter Scanavino, Odelya Halevi, and Hugh Dancy from the multiple Law and Order franchises while they appear to take promo videos and photos. In a few of the clips, you see Mariska and Tony joking around with one another and laughing, with Mariska even telling Tony how "cute" he is and complimenting his skin.
To say the fans were obsessed with the interactions between the two would be an understatement. In fact, while audiences have spent many years hoping Olivia would get together with SVU turned Organized Crime's Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), there's now a new love interest viewers are rooting for.
“Get Tony and Mariska’s characters together asap. That guy needs his Olivia,” one fan wrote. “I love this 🔥🤩I love you guys ❤️❤️,” someone else chimed in. “Tony and Mariska together? The universe did this for me 😍✨️,” another commented. A different person said, “YES you're CUTE Tony 🥰 and I totally agree with Mariska - your skin is gorgeous! ❤️😘.”
And speaking of Organized Crime, Law and Order fans are absolutely desperate to know when season 5 of the newest Wolf Entertainment franchise will be premiering. Led by Christopher Meloni, who played Olivia's partner for the first 12 seasons of SVU, which is now in its 26th season, fans have been thrilled to watch the "will they, won't they" couple interact over OC's four previous seasons after so many years without the two of them on screen. Although another season was confirmed back in April, with the announcement it would be airing only on Peacock and not NBC, there hasn't been an update on when we can expect to see Detective Stabler return to our screens again.
That said, with the potential for romance between Mariska and Tony's characters as a possible storyline in the future, viewers might be okay with the delay in the interest of seeing if these two characters could end up coupling up. We'll have to tune in and see!
