'Survivor 47' Kicks Off Its Two-Part Finale By Booting Two Massive Players

At the beginning of this week's first-ever two-part Survivor finale, Jeff Probst said Season 47 operated under two themes: Ever-shifting power, and savvy social gameplay causing confusion as to who's lying. And, interestingly, we got those represented the two votes that kicked off the endgame. While one Tribal Council saw yet another power shift in a surprise idol play, the other left the majority confused about the truth leading right up to putting pen to parchment.

Check out more information about tonight's episode below and find out who was voted out.

Who got voted off on Survivor 47 tonight?

Andy Rueda

If you told Andy on Day 3 that he would get idoled out of the game, he wouldn't believe you. After all, the Survivor superfan started the game with a massive mat chat meltdown, getting overheated during a challenge and throwing his closest ally under the bus. Andy was firmly on the bottom of his tribe throughout the premerge, but was kept along as an easy number, "in the pocket" of the majority. When everyone dropped their buffs, though, they soon ate their words. Andy had shed the meek and emotional persona of the first half of the game, becoming the player he always wanted. He flipped on his former Gata allies, then flipped the game on its head once more when he single-handedly crafted "Operation: Italy," seen as one of the biggest moves of the New Era.

At the Final Six, Andy knew Rachel was set to go, but was increasingly worried about his jury perception. So he went to his Gata frenemy and made a preemptive pitch, talking up everything he had done without her realizing. Unfortunately, as Rachel herself would tell Andy at Tribal Council, it did a good job convincing her, but not in the way he hoped. Rachel stunned nearly everyone left in the game when she pulled out an idol. She saved herself and spurned Andy, realizing he was a much bigger threat than she had realized.

Genevieve Mushaluk

Genevieve, as a Survivor player, was always in motion. Though seemingly under the surface in the beginning of the game, the corporate lawyer proved herself to be a shark very early on. When presented with a plot to blindside Rome, she one-upped the complicated plan with her own, instead using the opportunity to take out the one who came to her in the first place: Kishan. After going back underwater again, she popped out to let more Lavo blood, as she seemingly single-handedly organized the votes to take out Sol over the course of one day. While impressive, these moves had a major effect not only on Genevieve as a player, but a person.

She was immediately clocked as the biggest threat left in the game, and received votes at every Tribal Council where she was vulnerable. On top of that, she was having a surprising struggle with her emotions, realizing her desire to blindside left her distant and isolated from the others. Despite the massive target on her back, Genevieve was able to survive to the Final Five, and even had been supplanted as the number one threat in lieu of Rachel. When Rachel won a crucial Immunity Challenge, she hoped she could use the fake idol crafted during "Operation: Italy" to bluff her way to the Final Four. Up to the vote, Genevieve continued to do what she did best: Spin Teeny in circles, having them doubt the truth even in the voting booth. Ultimately, Genevieve's nine lives ran short, as she revealed to everyone her fake idol, and they in turn revealed their votes for her.

Were any advantages found or played on Survivor 47 tonight?

Yes! This episode was the last time any idols or advantages could be used, and they certainly were! Rachel used her "Block-a-Vote" advantage on Sam, preventing him from voting at the Final Six. She also played the idol she found after the auction, successfully saving herself from elimination. At the Final Five, Sue finally played her idol she found in the premerge, choosing to use it on herself to guarantee a spot on Day 25.
