Late 'Superman' Star Christopher Reeve's Kids Make Rare Joint Red Carpet Appearance in His Honor
All three of Christopher Reeve’s children appeared together earlier this week for a special event honoring their late father.
The Superman star’s two sons and daughter—Matthew, 44, Alexandra, 40, and Will, 32—arrived at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, N.Y., on Wednesday, Sept. 18, to attend the premiere of a new documentary titled Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story. The new film explores the life and legacy of the actor from his early days in Hollywood through the struggles he faced after a bad fall off a horse left him paralyzed from the neck down.
In photos shared online after the premiere, Reeve’s children were all smiles as they posed for photographers on the red carpet. Matthew and Will matched in all-black suits that they each paired with black button-down shirts. In some of the photos, the brothers stood on either side of their sister, who wore a strapless red dress that she paired with a chrome-colored clutch.
Alexandra described her late father as “an incredibly intense person” who “did nothing at half effort” while speaking with ABC’s Good Morning America Wednesday evening. Those are traits that she said she and her brothers likely “inherited a little bit” from their Broadway performer father.
Will, who now works as a correspondent at ABC News, meanwhile told GMA that his view of his father as Superman is merely “a coincidence” to the late actor’s role in the movie, as he “much like many children think of their dad as Superman because it's dad.”
Reeve died at 52 in 2004, just under one decade after his life-changing fall in 1995. His wife Dana, with whom he shared Will, died two years after Reeve passed away. Reeve shared his older two children with ex-partner Gae Exton, who also appears in the new documentary.
