Superman & Lois Casts S.H.I.E.L.D. Vet Elizabeth Henstridge as [Spoiler]’s Daughter

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Elizabeth Henstridge is playing a key role in Superman & Lois‘ final season. The actress — who directed one episode each in Seasons 2 and 3, in addition to helming Episode 5 of the upcoming 10-episode season — will appear as Lex Luthor’s daughter, reports ComicBook.

The character, Elizabeth, left in her teens after Lex was convicted of murder and sent to prison. In the new season (which premieres Monday at 8/7c on The CW with two episodes), Luthor is fixated on reuniting with his estranged daughter. It’s currently unknown how big of a role or how many episodes Henstridge will appear in throughout its last run. (Watch a sneak peek here!)

“I worked with her on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and she’s unbelievable,” executive producer Brent Fletcher told ComicBook. “She’s an unbelievable actress and just the greatest person to work with. She is so nice and awesome at what she does. Our crew loves her, she loves our crew… we built it for her. She was the only person we ever went to with it.”

“We tried to give everybody a swan song this year,” he added. “Like, ‘What if you did that?’ And she said yes.”

The season is adapting the early 1990s “Death of Superman” storyline, which sees the Man of Steel battling Luthor’s Doomsday monster. The story has been previously adapted in DC’s animated movie Superman: Doomsday, and again in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the animated Death and Return of Superman.
