This Super Simple, No-Roll Sugar Cookie Is Perfect for Holiday Baking
One of the sweetest things about Christmas are all the Christmas cookies that people make and exchange, but even with all the many varieties of cookies out there, one of my favorites is and always will be the simple yet perfect sugar cookie.
Sugar cookies bring joy with their buttery flavor, soft yet slightly crisp texture and endless decorating possibilities. These cookies are a holiday classic, but they're also a year-round favorite in my household. Their subtle sweetness makes them universally perfect for every occasion, from Christmas gatherings to birthday parties.
Traditionally, sugar cookies are made with flour, sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla, which makes them one of the simplest cookies to whip up. Baking powder or baking soda is added to give the cookies a little lift, while salt enhances the overall flavor. Once baked to a light golden color, sugar cookies can be left plain or decorated with icing, sprinkles and more for a personal touch.
But as much as I love these little treats, I don't always have time to make them. The store-bought dough comes in handy for those moments when I'm short on time, but I recently found a recipe that will make it even easier for me to mix up a batch of from-scratch sugar cookies anytime I am craving some.

What Are the 3-Ingredient Sugar Cookies?
In the TikTok video, Andreeva calls these cookies the "easiest in the world" and that was all it took to get my attention. I love a simple recipe! All you need is butter, sugar and flour to make these cookies that are "chewy on the inside, but crispy on the edges." Vanilla extract is the optional fourth ingredient, and we'll definitely be adding that to the mix.

How Do You Make the 3-Ingredient Sugar Cookies?
The full recipe can be found in the TikTok caption, but all you do is cream the butter and sugar until the mixture is fluffy, then mix in the flour until you have a tacky dough.
Next, you roll the dough into balls, roll the dough balls in sugar, then arrange them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Press the dough balls flat with the bottom of a glass and bake at 350° for around 10-12 minutes. Let them cool and enjoy!
The cookies look great as-is, but they're also a perfect blank canvas for customization. I would love to try adding some lemon juice and lemon zest to them, or some cinnamon and nutmeg for a snickerdoodle-ish vibe. You could also dip them in chocolate, a la Ina Garten, or drizzle them with a simple glaze made from powdered sugar, milk and lemon juice.
Sometimes, the simplest things bring the most joy, and these cookies are going to be a hit with my family. I can't wait to make a batch for the holidays!
