Sunrise's Edwina Bartholomew sparks time-old debate with fridge snap

Sunrise host Edwina Bartholomew has unwittingly waded into a time-old debate when she shared a seemingly innocent snap of her toddler, Molly peering into the family fridge.

Eddy's photo, which she posted on Instagram on Sunday, captures the two-year-old tot perched on a kid-friendly ladder while gazing at the edible delights within.

The 38-year-old entertainment presenter, who is pregnant with her second bub, couldn't help but crack a joke about her daughter's culinary capabilities.

"Molly, please make me dinner. Regards, Mum," she quipped in the caption.

While Eddy's followers agreed that Molly was indeed a 'mini foodie in the making,' others were quick to hone in on one contentious item in the fridge door: the humble bottle of tomato sauce.

The storage location of said condiment has long been a contentious issue, with diners divided into two distinct camps: those who keep their sauce in the fridge and those who prefer the pantry.

Advocates for both sides of the argument took to the comments to share their opinion on the ideal tomato sauce spot.

"I’m fascinated that someone actually keep their tomato sauce in the fridge," remarked a one.

"I'm so glad someone else keeps there Tomato Sauce in the Fridge," added another.

"Tomato sauce should be in the cupboard," stated a third, prompting a fridge fan to reply, "Check bottle. Actually says refrigerate after opening!"

The chatter wasn't just about the best spot for keeping tomato sauce. One of Eddy's followers also had this pearl of wisdom to share about making a half-finished jar of tomato base or purée (aka passata) last longer in the fridge.

"Also the opened jar of tomato base sauce should be turned upside down it keeps it fresher longer, reduces chances of mould growth," they wrote.

Eddy herself gave the hint her tick of approval, replying, "Good tip!"

Others, such as Eddy's Channel 7 colleague Kendall Gilding couldn't help but gush over Molly's gorgeous head of red hair.

"Her curls get me every time! Every. Time. So beautiful," she wrote.

It's been a busy few weeks for Eddy and her growing family. Just last week, she celebrated her husband Neil Varcoe’s birthday as well as Molly's very first day at daycare.

And back in December, she whipped up a homemade Bluey cake for Molly's second birthday.

Baby number two is due in February and while Eddy and Neil already know the sex of the baby, they’ve decided to keep it secret for now.
